Bessie has spent years caring for her ailing father and eccentric aunt in Florida. Unable to speak and confined to his bed for years, Marvin’s only entertainment comes from someone bouncing beams of sunlight, reflected from a small mirror, around his room. When Bessie is diagnosed with leukemia, she reconnects with her long-estranged sister Lee in hopes of finding a bone marrow donor. As old wounds resurface and family tensions come to light, the sisters are forced to confront the past and rediscover the bonds that connect them. Marvin’s Room is a deeply moving and unexpectedly funny story of family, forgiveness, and unconditional love.
